Title: Belly Button Centered Tummy Tuck Does Not Work
Post by: DrBermant on December 28, 2010, 10:33:10 PM
Tummy Tuck surgery compensates for excess lax skin and loose muscle fascia. It may sound attractive to eliminate the longer lower scar and instead just remove skin around the belly button. Unfortunately the Belly Button Centered Tummy Tuck Does Not Work (http://www.plasticsurgery4u.com/procedure_folder/abdominoplasty/belly_button_tuck.htm). The forces pulling the belly button skin to enlarge just cannot be compensated. The result is a terribly large belly button looking much worse than the subtle scar at the pubic region that is easily hidden by clothing. On that link you can see the other form of failure that attempts to pull a larger circle into a small circle of the belly button: a terrible star burst wrinkling.

The best way to not need revision surgery is a proper design of the initial surgery.

Hope this helps,
